Blame Game    Message 47960Sun, 11 November 2018 11:36

After a busy week, I sat down and read that article about Spencer Day slating the personnel he put in place for yet another defeat. Normally the buck stops with the manager and if things don't improve a decision is made for the good of the club.

In the PL it was well documented how toxic the environment got at Arsenal towards the end of Wenger's reign. Fans were divided between his great achievements and argued that to some extent he was still doing a good job. Others saw the obvious fall in standards and that he just wasn't getting the required performances out of his players. He wielded a lot of power at the club but not total power. In the end the hierarchy saw the empty seats and knew a change was needed. The fans are more united when it comes to Spencer's lack of performance.

Of course Spencer has nobody to answer to. Even if there was 2 men and a dog at the game he would still carry on doing the same thing. I used to say to my mate that at least we had a local football club to meet at and watch some level of football. However, when players are ditched so regularly, how does a fan feel a connection to a team of players? Do the honourable thing Spencer. You will get more respect for it than dragging the club deeper into the mire.

I had a dream   Message 47649Sat, 13 October 2018 12:15

Dreams are often ridiculous, sometimes funny.

I dreamed last night that we introduced a new player to the crowd named Rex Fontana featuring his nickname 'King of Spin'

He was a diminutive, argumentative octogenarian and was sent off by the female referee in the first minute. He was promptly helped through the 'revolving door'

That would be something of a record.

Looking for a home programme against Aldershot from 2006-07 season   Message 46828Tue, 19 June 2018 19:28

Please can you contact me if you have a programme against Aldershot Town from the Hampshire Senior Cup played on 11th April 2007.

I would be interested in buying it or part exchanging it for some other Farnborough programmes.

Thanks all.

Scheme for recruiting sponsors   Message 46686Wed, 16 May 2018 11:55

I see from the official site there is a financial inducement (up to £250) offered to individuals if they can recruit sponsors for the club.

It would be good if 'Winalot' was displayed on the players' shirts.

Southampton declined a real opportunity for this particular rewarding sponsorship because they thought it would be 'taking the piss'. It seems to me they were 'barking up the wrong tree' :-)

How many?    Message 46545Sun, 22 April 2018 13:38

Arsene Wenger has selected 221 different footballers during his 22 years in charge of Arsenal.

It is NOT a good idea to try to beat this total in as short a time as possible.

Woking have sacked Anthony Limerick, with Geoff Chapple taking over for the remainder of the season.
That may well, unfortunately, save them from relegation, dammit.

Lots of rumours over there of the great GW appearing!!!

Now that would be funny!!!!!

Still, back to our own problems!!

Bulls Issue Banning Order   Message 45975Fri, 23 February 2018 16:27

Quote:
23rd February 2018 by Jamie Griffiths - Club News

Hereford FC has today confirmed that a male supporter has been banned from attending matches at Edgar Street for 12 months.

The ban relates to incidents with supporters releasing smoke bombs during the match against Farnborough on 3rd February 2018.

The individual has been contacted in writing and notified of the reasons for the decision. As investigations by the police continue, officers are also planning on speaking to a number of other supporters who are believed to have been involved in the incident.

Hereford FC regret having to issue this banning order, however bringing pyrotechnics to any Hereford FC fixture is totally unacceptable and the club will act in a similar way for any future incidents.

Finally, the club would like to thank supporters for their help and assistance in identifying those involved in these incidents.

Well done to Hereford. I'm assuming the supporter has not been named as police enquiries are not complete.

Doing it for kicks   Message 45578Mon, 15 January 2018 14:02

I have just noticed on the internet that a referee has kicked a player.
If a player kicked a referee he would rightly be sent off. Should a player be able to send a referee off if it is the other way round? :-)

Players in   Message 45540Sat, 13 January 2018 10:29

A reshaped squad for today. Let's give them a chance shall we?

http://www.farnboroughfc.co.uk/2018/player-update-13-january -2018/

I'm never over the moon about senior players leaving, particularly Nic, but it's been obvious for some time that the team structure has not been working. We've been getting killed at the back by teams playing simple diagonals behind us. It has to stop and, like Spencer it seems, I didn't think we had the players in defence to do this. Likewise, many teams in this division have a deep lying midfield general prompting their play and we've been sloppy at marking him out of the game. That has to change too.

Many thanks to Nic, Keith and Josh - all good servants to Boro' - I wish them well.

Hi guys, hope you are all well. We've got a bit of a problem at the moment in that we have no-one to cover Farnborough matches for us at the Non-League Paper since the departure of Dom and Ryan. It's a paid role but we would need the reporter to be regular attender for home matches, starting with tomorrow's game against King's Lynn Town. If anyone would like to take it on or has any suggestions of who might, please email me at jon.couch@greenwayspublishing.com?

Unfortunately the wobbly bus journey home managed to pull the cable to my camera memory card and "corrupted" the photo storage. Running a recovery program still now so once I get back the first twenty minutes of images I'll add a few more.
Don't think there's a program for a leaky defence though ;-(

Must say that I thought Jamie and Perry made some breath-taking passes during the game yesterday. Entertaining stuff.
