Tommy Wright Gone/Squad   Message 37383Sun, 13 March 2016 10:00

Signed on dual reg for Staines now.

Looks like we will need more signings, we have a real lack of bodies with the likes of Jenkinson and now Wright departing. Then definately out injured are Barton and Joseph-Whittingham with Oli and Oyenuga having been injured yesterday. Hallahan and Simpson are then AWOL. James-Lewis then not in team yesterday.

Edit: Hallahan's back at Basingstoke. Potentially Vatsuk is the only senior striker in the squad.

Mutero   Message 37382Sun, 13 March 2016 09:34

A Zimbabwe U21 and U23 international.

Started off in Reading's Academy and had loans spells at Maidenhead, Didcot and Hungerford. Joins QPR on a short term contract on being released by Reading. That's not extended and joins a team in Greece. Released by them in Nov 2013 and next appears at Beaconsfield earlier this seasons. Plays a couple of games for Staines and then joins us.

Doing some digging it looks like he joined Nuneaton in pre-season 2014/15 but it took 6+ months for his international clearance to come through. By that time a new manager came in and didn't want him so he missed an entire season. Spent 15/16 pre-season on trial at Stranraer and Basingstoke.

Excellent item on the situation with the Academy boys, on the main website, well worth a read.

Great job by Mark Wardley and his team, and some very good prospects for the future.
Lets hope a few more of the lads make the first team soon.

Highlights include Bogdan's ever-changing hairstyle and a bromance during the goal celebrations ;-)

Wasn't feeling it yesterday...a raging hangover and a long, torturous rail replacement bus journey from Essex into East London and random drizzle made me an unhappy Snapperchap - and that was before the defeat! ;-)

Recent attacking tactic from hefty defenders   Message 36261Tue, 19 January 2016 00:39

One of my three favourite teams recently suffered in back to back games with Leicester City when defenders who looked more like rugby players made a late run into the box to produce a powerful header into the net.

We could engage a player who resembles such a description to do this for us.

It seems to me that numbers 98 and 97 in this list, both in danger of relegation, are Get Lucky by Daft Punk at 98 and That Dont Impress Me Much by Shania Twain at 97 would be appropriate theme songs until we get our act together (and I am confident that we will).

Occurs to me that no-one's mentioned it on here.

The master plan has been revealed - aka Spencer's intructions. Spencer has been told to provide Prince with a list of the 6 players he wants to sign. If the club can sign them we'll hope to avoid relegation. If we can't bring them in will just plan to be playing two leagues below. I'll leave other to comment on this. Other than, if the club admist that relegation is the most likely outcome, will they still be charging £12?!

Three of the targets were mention. Argent from Hartley Wintney, Kalu from Staines and a Aldershot youth (or former) youth player.

Some interesting snippets   Message 35311Mon, 14 December 2015 22:13

While I was making an abortive attempt to find out how far we have had to travel in cars to get to Hendon, I found out that
'Hendon Football Club is a trading name of Hendon Football Club (2008)Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hendon Football Club Supporters Society Ltd.

On the BBC football website I have noticed that the Plymouth manager has blamed defeat on too much algae on the pitch.

Truro City will be groundsharing for part of next season with Torquay at Torquay's Plainmoor ground. Torquay are cash strapped in the bottom 3 of their league (the National League) and will welcome the income from this groundsharing.
Torquay's budgets were drastically cut in the summer when their millionaire owner left the club. A new board of local businessmen have taken over. Sometimes owners have little or no real interest in the club they own.

Hey all, as it's the last Saturday before Christmas a few of us are dressing as Santa. Few pre-match drinks in the bar and try to make it a fairly jovial atmosphere.

I understand if many will want to stay away from this as it doesn't reflect our on-field performances but it's a bit of fun and hopefully will join us.

More the merrier and all welcome.

Thoughts on last nights game...   Message 34392Tue, 03 November 2015 10:34

My thoughts and observations on last nights game...

The players are quiet on the pitch, majority of the vocals could be heard from the opposition.

Tupper: kicking needs work 2/3 kicked out of play with little or no pressure. Appeared to be a lack of presence and communication with defence (could be to do with the the evolving door of players). He did make some very good saves and you could say one kept Boro in the game.

MacDonald: partners well with Broadbent, good height, needs match fitness IMHO.

We started with a right footed player at left back and a left footed player at right back.

Emmerson: wasted at the back, when pushed forward Boro's tempo ( tempo; a word our coaches love to shout from the sideline) increased. Almost all our attacking play went through him and by far the best player on the pitch.

Bogdan: sadly noticed him for all the reasons. Looked all over the place and not really interested at all.

Midfield: lacked shape and discipline, all too often they'd be back almost almost in-line with the defence to kick it aimlessly to where our midfield should be. I felt they were completely missing for large parts of the game.

Bevans: I think it was him... Bags of energy, sadly he spent most of the game jumping against their giant on the pitch. Time and time again the ball was lofted up. You just felt if it was passed along the floor he could've ran onto it.

Wright: Again think it was him... Seemed to just take on everyone almost Bennett-esk until he lost the ball.

Fraser: looked shattered after two mins of being on, assume he was still carrying a knock?

FT: the players were on the pitch and it looked as if little or no instruction was offered from anyone. Chalk and cheese to their huddle.

Squad Update - Dom?   Message 34252Thu, 29 October 2015 13:13

Any chance of an update... when you hear from the club of course.

Guessing that Ethalstan's gone back to Reading?

Any news on the players who were being allowed to leave/go out on loan?

I saw that Winchester City have been trying to sign Awford on loan, but could not agree the terms.

Yasin has signed for Lewes.

Got my own update - Nditi and Chambers are bothg playing for Guildford City, along with Dynan. Both on loan I guess. A hat-trick for Nditi and one for CHambers on their debuts.
