Just to be clear this has still got to be sanctioned by the Football Association. So at present is just what the Southern league would prefer to happen.

If that were to happen in the football league or premier league, I think some of the teams would feel cheated if the season is null & void (Liverpool, Leeds, West Brom etc) but I think a void season would get the same reaction at this level too!

I totally understand the view of the feeder leagues to stop now.

Life is more complicated for the top division of the National League - the transfer window applies and many players will be on year-round contracts that expire at the end of June. The consequences are far larger and it makes sense to hang on for now as it could yet be possible to complete the season in June.

This really is a most difficult conundrum, although in the grand scheme, it's only sport at the end of the day, and life and health are the be all and end all whatever happens.

One possible solution to Footballs problem would, in my opinion, use this time, however long, as an extended mid-season break, and to continue matches when the worst has passed and safety allows, and it will eventually, to complete the current Leagues to conclusion.

If that takes until even April/May 2021, then so be it!

That would then allow another break before the new season of 21/22 to commence in July/August 22.

Still doesn't overcome the contract problems between Clubs and Players, that's another matter, but it would help to sort out a very difficult problem.

The current idea to possibly annul Leagues would suit everyone except those seeking Promotion, Championships, or playoffs, and does seem unfair on the hard work put in to get to those positions.

But then, as I said earlier, Life and health are more important than any of it aren't they?

KEEP SAFE EVERYONE STAY INDOORS

I Read on the Shots and Woking boards that the National League wishes to declare the season null and void, subject to FA approval!

Whilst declaring null and void, they also want to propose that Barrow and Harrogate be promoted plus Fylde and Chorley be relegated to National North.

Surely, if something is declared 'null and void' it means that everyone agrees that it didn't actually happen, so how can four Clubs be promoted/relegated from a League that "didn't actually happen"??

Hard on the top two, but I'm sure the bottom two wouldn't argue!

Just like the Grand National that never was even though it took place and a "winner" crossed the line.

Chorley is my second tesm and they will be glad to take the relegation! Being the club with the smallest budget in the division and totally part time, it was always going to be a struggle before the season even started.

Yes there were a couple of shellackings especially in the first few games with the step-up being such a large one, but the squad has made almost every game competitive - losing by 1 goal mostly when they do go down... The issue has been the sheer number of draws, conceding last minute equalisers etc. that have cost those valuable points that would have given them a chance of finishing 5th bottom which would have been a massive success!

What "Step" are Farnborough in?

Also what "Step" are Aldershot in?

Shots and Woking Step 1, Farnborough Step 3, so our League, and all below, are declared null and void and, I assume all Clubs stay where they are to resume afresh, probably, next season.

National League, as I read it, want to resume the current League to completion as and when they are able to.

Player contracts are probably the deciding factor in that decision.

One question though: If the NL League DOES complete whenever, what happens to the bottom clubs in NL South and North at the conclusion?
If the level below is already as per the current situation, that will surely put extra teams in to the lower levels!!

Luckily the bottom two in NL are both northern Clubs, plus there will also be an adjustment because of the Bury situation. Only one relegated from League 2 at the moment.

I still fear, but hope not, that there are many Clubs who will not be able to survive through financial commitments, which will alter the whole pyramid system again.

Could be the AGM Cup of all AGM cups this time!!

No relegation from Confernece North or South. So Hungerford, Braintree and Tonbridge are safe in CS and Blyth, Kettering and Bradford Park Avenue in CN.

Bigger question is what happens to the odd place that will remain due to Bury. They can't gain entry via North West Counties now. Will CN of CS run with one short?

Note that all "results" are expunged. So these matches will count for the purposes of players' individual appearance and goalscoring records. Likewise, the games played, and goals scored/conceded, will count towards clubs' records.

So if the NL agrees that there is no relegation, how do they come to the conclusion that Barrow and Harrogate will be put forward for promotion??

What's right for the bottom should be the same for the top as well!!

Tough on those two, but you can't have different rules in the same League surely?

Therefore Div 2 will have to play one Club short again and, save the bottom team.

Good to have the discussion, and it takes the mind of things, but there really are more important matters to hand at the moment aren't there?

MAKE SURE YOU ALL OPEN THE WINDOWS TONIGHT AT 8-00 P.M. AND SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION FOR THE GREAT PEOPLE WHO REALLY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME, OUR WONDERFUL NHS NURSES AND DOCTORS!!

I may have the wrong end of the stick here, but does that mean all of the results for each game will not exist? For example, we didn't ever lose 7-0 to Tiverton? If that's the case then I suppose it's probably better for us.

But like stated above, there are more important things in the world right now, exactly why we are having this discussion.

Stay safe everybody.

My understanding is the 'results are expunged' means that all the games have still happened for club stats purposes, just that they are not officially recognised as 'going towards' anything - in this case the league table.

What in effect has happened by doing this is the entire season underway since August has been turned into a massive run of pre-season friendlies for whenever the next season commences.
