Tiverton Pitch inspection   Message 50726Wed, 12 February 2020 09:32  Go to next message

There's a pitch inspection scheduled for 12.00, we will know shortly after this whether the match is on and will advise. Please keep an eye on social media or on here.

Match postponed as a result of failing a pitch inspection.....pitch waterlogged.

So we'll be having a rearrangement of a rearrangement of a rearrangement of a reverse fixture in which we lost by a slim margin of 7 goals? Sounds good.

Provisional until confirmed I presume.

Sorry Phil, merely pointing out what is printed on the Official Website fixture list.
I realise that it is provisional, so maybe T.B.A. should be used in future?

Just to clarify. Personally, I was updating the website (during my lunch break at work) earlier via my mobile, which isn't the easiest job to do on a small screen but I did as much as I could to make it clear that the game was postponed.

All the fixtures on the website are integrated into a season calendar with their own unique ID number (in order of the date of the original fixture) and to save me deleting the event of a postponed game and having to reinstate all the details again, instead I have to change the date of the fixture. However, as there isn't a new date for the fixture so soon after the announcement of the postponement. So by default I chose 1 May which moves the fixture to the bottom of the list and out of sight of the February section to avoid any immediate confusion that the game was still on, while I wind down a couple more hours before I get full access to the website via my laptop.

So apologies for any confusion - I'm still learning with the new website too. As always, any announcements about fixtures (postponements, re-arranged dates etc) will be confirmed via news articles published on the website.

Thanks for the explanation Dom, and I'm sure you know better than most of us how it all works.
Not knocking anything you do, and we are all very grateful for it.
Perhaps it's a minor point for next season, to use T.B.A for fixtures that have been postponed rather than a date, even if provisional. Maybe just the word provisional against it, if it is possible?
Just me being pedantic really.
Keep up the good work, we would all be the worse for it if we didn't have it!

That's okay Bob - I thought it was best to clarify!

The fixture boxes on the website homepage pull in specific details (such as team names, date, time etc.) and don't allow for customised text such as TBA to be entered.

I updated the text box on the event to say that the game was postponed but that's as much as I can do - http://www.farnboroughfc.co.uk/event/2876/

Thanks for the feedback. We may come up with a better solution during the Summer break!

As I say, with the offside law, if it ain't broke don't fix it!!

Var-dy didn't work for you, Var didn't work for us!

As someone said the other day, footballers are going to have to wear a size smaller boot from now on, it's getting ridiculous!!

See you Saturday week, and I hope to have the apprentice with me, if you are free?
