Okay, guessing on new faces:

Puemo - can't find anyone by the exact name. There's an ex-Aldershot youth midfielder called Jerry Puemo; could be him?
Fagan - centre back/defensive midfield, ex-Bishop's Stortford, Welling, Boreham Wood, Arsenal youth.
Rhule - was here last season.
Cullen - young Scottish keeper, ex-Celtic and Partick youth.

I have found a Frank Puemo playing for Sandbach. There's only one reference to this player, but a number for Jerry Puemo. The latter also played for Nantwich, Clapton and Stourport. Wonder if Frank is also known as Jerry?

Well done lads!

Have to admit that at half-time I couldn't see that turn-around happening..!

Great 3rd goal, great penalty save, strong defending from CJ and a creative 25 mins from Cullen in the second half.

Wimborne wilted...

A terrific goal from Fernandez disguised a ramshackle team performance against a limited Wimborne side. The tests against Staines, Hendon and Weymouth lie ahead. Then we'll find out where we are.

We started brightly but struggled to hit a cow's arse with a banjo, so when Pidgeley was lucky not to be sent off for a foul before our defence allowed Wimborne to run through and score I honestly feared it could be a long day and an even longer season. Wimborne were well marshalled and drilled and were happy to play keep-ball in our half, looking unlikely to concede and equally not likely to score more, content to keep everything as it was till the end of the 90.

When we conceded the penalty just after the re-start I thought this is not going to end well - then Pidgeley saved it superbly, smothering the re-bound before the oppo could get to it, it suddenly woke the 10 outfield players up and gave them some belief - from then we properly took the game to Wimborne and when we equalised they looked beaten already, which we then proceeded to do so in a very professional manner - Fernandes' goal was a treat, beating 2 players who tried to chop him with a cracking turn, ran half the length of the pitch pursued by a Wimborne player who just as Fernandes reached the box and drew the keeper lunged in desperation, seeming to clip Fernandes who stumbling lifted the ball over the on-rushing keeper... Proper goal of the season contender already.

From then they seemed to be trying to get Jefferson Louis on the score-sheet, who missed a couple of good chances that if we were not trying to force a goal for him could easily have resulted in at least another 2 or 3 goals.

Proper game of 2 halves that and great to have a win on the opening game - caveat though we do seem to be lacking some cohesion in midfield, especially on the defensive duties and the 'water-carrying' too often there was a huge gap of about 30 yards between 2 ranks of Boro players and nothing in between - something that allowed Wimborne to play football with impunity in the first half and if they were not toothless up front would have properly put us to the sword before the break.

Their #10 gave us problems until we worked out how to stop the ball going to him. The changing point for me was the Penalty save, not the greatest penalty but a save's a save. Our injury list could be a long one with people dropping like flies and Pep and CJ playing on with knocks add to that Puelo and Fagan both coming off injured with the latter in a sling. Referee got the correct decision by not sending Pidgeley off as there were 2 covering defenders much to the annoyance of Top Knot Mourinho who was sat alongside us. All in all i think we deserved the win but we will face better teams than Wimborne but we can only beat who's in front of us.
