Poor first half against a Farnham team who were giving it a good go and finding plenty of large gaps in our defence.

Much better second half and the goals started rattling in as Farnham ran out of puff. That several goals came from really pacey and accurate play was very much a good thing.

The primary issue in the first 45 was trying to play football without a functioning midfield. This starved the strikers and the lack of screening meant the defence was being opened up far too often.

I don't know how many players were missing (CJ was injured and Barton was trialing elsewhere) but even at this early stage it looks as though the midfield needs work.

A couple of lads who I didn't recognise (academy or trialists?) did well against limited oppo. Others not so much, which is to be expected at this stage.

There were at least two of the former Academy players on the pitch - Ethan Holland and Elijah Anyan.

Trialist A's identity is not really a secret as Jon Reed is praising his performance on Twitter! Plus everyone in non-league will already know he's on trial with us.

We did have numerous chances in the first half, notably a miss when the forward went around the goal keeper and missed an open goalkeeper so I would not agree that the forwards were starved. Also I think they played their first 11 in the 1st half and changed nearly all the outfield players second half so fatigue should not have been an issue. Finally most of the chances for them came down the middle and right hand side, they did not get much joy with the academy lad.

I do agree that the midfield was lacking creativity and left the defence exposed.
