|FaST announce change of emphasis Message 46634||Sun, 06 May 2018 08:01 |
This is welcome news. The key quote:
It was therefore decided to change direction and introduce a new scheme geared solely to FaST ground projects and would no longer support the player budget.
Disclaimer: I've financially supported FaST since its formation and will continue to do so.
The previous, wider, remit became fogged up with the politics of funds possibly being diverted by owners for their own priorities with a lack of oversight e.g. the unauthorised diversion of FaST funds by Hollis to fill financial gaps created by his poor decisions upset many, including me. It is also pointless committing to support the funding of players' wages when there is no sign of any stability in the playing squad.
So I welcome the renewed focus on raising funds to carry out well defined projects around the ground where members/supporters can see what they are getting for their money. Good.

Well said Nigel, and I too am in support of the action, and your words.
This scheme was proposed at the recent FaST AGM, and I have been waiting for the official notification before commenting.
I have long realised that Supporters were not taking to the Player Sponsorship scheme, for the very reasons you state, the total lack of consistency of the playing squad.
Apart from a couple of players, you just never knew who would be turning out in the yellow and blue from game to game!!, and if they did would they still be around next week?? Hardly condusive to affinity between player and supporters.
Lets hope that is corrected this season!!
To revert to funding for ground improvements is a sound idea and, being one of the founder Members of the original GDA
(ground development association) I fully support it.
After around 40 years of working for the Supporters Club/Fast, I had decided to step back this coming season, but this change of emphasis of funding has given me fresh enthusiasm to continue the fund raising effort once more.
Maybe I won't see it, but new Owners/Managers/Directors will change one day, especially if there is a good standard of facility to be in!!
It's already excellent, and probably one of the best in the area, but it can always be improved.
LETS HOPE THE PLAYING SIDE JUSTIFIES IT!!!!!!!, because, as I always contend, and have stated many times, everything about the Club turns on what happens on the pitch!!!
Roll on July
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!
