Interesting that with the exception of Cureton, Bishop Stortford had a young side out last night. Four of their side play in the Stortford U17 Youth team and are still at school. The difference is that they have a decent young manager who can coach and improve those youngsters and we have Spencer.

I never thought I would say this but our past approach of going for glory and running up the debt may have been a better approach than living within our means and suffering a slow, painful death. At least we got to see some decent football and had some excitement whilst the debts piled up. Either approach seems to lead to the death of the club so let's live fast and die young!

I sympathise with your sentiment Jules, but I say that the fans DO care for the Club, and have voiced their thoughts and anger over the recent years, unfortunately to no avail, or signs of any improvement!!

When stubborn, apparent bloody mindedness, thwarts all the efforts and concerns in any situation, there is no alternative but to walk away and just say, well you get on with it then!!

That's what 200/300 people have done over the last few seasons AND NO ONE IN AUTHORITY AT THE CLUB SEEMS TO ASK WHY, OR WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT!!!!

That is the position we are in now and, regretfully, I can't see any pattern of improvement about to come our way.!!!

Money is of course a factor, as it is at most Clubs, and I approve wholeheartedly with the attempt to live within our means, but I refuse to believe it is the sole problem!!

The changing of players is inevitable at this level, while you search for a balanced squad, but constant wholesale changes, as we have seen, do nothing for team bonding, or Supporter alliance to players and the team, which is the basis of A CLUB!!

Another suggestion is, of course, the apparent inability of coaches and management to connect properly to the players and to bring out what good points the players available do have, and I also believe that a vast majority of the players we have seen this season ARE good enough to perform consistently at this level!!

Why they haven't I leave for you to decide!

I think the missing supporters and empty terraces and seats show that they have made their decision!!!!!!!!

At what point will the falling attendances make running the club unsustainable. Something needs to change and fast. I can't name most of the team now.

That has been the problem most seasons James.

The huge turn over of players means that supporters don't get the chance to identify with the them. Here one day gone the next almost!!

One or two players are slowly coming to the fore, and being recognised, but every week it's the same questions you here. Who's the 4?, who's the 8? and so on.

A new name appears on the team sheet. No one knows who it is or where he's from.

At the same time we are being urged to 'sponsor a player', and there is wonder as to why the take up isn't good!

Then you hear, as happened on Wednesday, that an agent has taken the player away to 'train' with a Conference South side, on the day of the game.

There is almost no opportunity of building an affinity to the 'Club', and subsequently people lose interest and fade away.

Supporters would understand and empathise if there was a constant squad, no matter what the results, as long as they could see a sustained effort, in all departments, to improve, and grow.

At the moment though they might just as well go from game to game on the local park, just watching a game of football, with no affinity to anyone and, I'm afraid, A LOT HAVE!!!

Who left on Wednesday? Southam hasn't played the last couple but he's possibly a little more mature...

I sponsored a player at the beginning of the season. Matt Bunyan. Within a week he was gone. I didn't even get an acknowledgement from the club. The reason I sponsored him was my son Jonny a Farnborough fan and Matt were teachers together at Salesian College. They are having a drink together tonight at the Sarsens Stones. I will be interested to see if come the end of the season, I get a shirt. Problem is, that shirt has probably be worn by at least 20 others since he left so has absolutely no meaning anymore.

Your name is on the web site Jules. And the club haven't promised shirts at the end of the season.
You say the player left the following week, he made himself unavailable due to increasing work load and stated he wouldn't be able to travel to games, yet still managed to turn out for a local rival!

Thanks for that bit of info Phil, but these are the little things that supporters need to know when players leave, or whatever.

It doesn't have to be derogatory, just something on the lines of " A. N. Other has left the Club due to work commitments and in ability to travel to away games"

Similarly with players joining, or undergoing injuries or suspensions.

It's called communication with the supporters.

Small things they might be, but they help people to feel involved and, above all, understand a little.

Perhaps it might also make them a little more tolerant.

Yes that was the official story. My name is on the website as a sponsor because months after sponsoring him I had not received any acknowledgement. Rob Prince contacted me to apologise for the lack of acknowledgement. I didn't sponsor him to be plauded for it. He is a family friend.

This, oh this absolutely. I don't like assuming the worst about people so I can imagine Spencer is feeling pretty disheartened and maybe even aggrieved at fans' reaction. But in the absence of communication as you say then you're making a rod for your own back and inviting that reaction.

The fact that some players have agents at southern league level tells you everything that's wrong with the game today, in my opinion.

It comes with the territory when you loan players from League Clubs!!

Yes Bob. Totally agree.

It's such a desperate situation. I feel sorry for Spencer - surely it's only his ego and pride that's making him dig in. Whenever I speak with any football fans at my office they're always amazed he's still there. In other news, I once had a boss who had no people skills, alienated staff, wouldn't even say good morning and lowered morale and reduced productivity. Even she got moved out of her job!

On a happier note, I groundhopped to Redbridge v Waltham Forest last Saturday. My first football match since the Hereford game. An entertaining 4-4 draw. Great comeback by Waltham Forest after being 3-0 down. Nice to be totally neutral and snap away. The Essex Senior League clubs have lots of history...and lots of politics too! The Clapton Ultras - who I plan to meet before the season ends have been boycotting home matches all season and watch games from an alley next to the ground! Many of these clubs are desperately strapped for cash yet still manage to entertain and keep their heart and soul in the face of adversity. Many of the clubs also back campaigns like the anti homophobia Football For Everyone campaign - something which Farnborough fails to do, although I recommended this ages ago. A community club needs to show it's support for every member of the community. Boro remain very 20th Century.

May the Boro misery end some time soon

Apparently when Kings Langley beat us they had seven players of 20 years or under and five players in their squad were from their under 18 academy.

Same for me Jules. I sponsored Josh Huggins, in fairness he did stay a little longer than Matt Bunyan, but there seems no point in the club proposing the same scheme next season when with the present manager the high turnover of players would continue.

I missed the deadline to vote in the player of the season poll. How many players in it are still at the club?
