Thanks Dom - credit to the players for giving it a go.

Five defeats in a row, nineteen goals conceded during that time. Spencer is out of his depth in this league.

Yes. Well done to the players for trying and for scoring three away from home. Another four conceded and another defeat? Time for the manager to admit that, despite best efforts, he's not up to the job. He won't.

Agree with your comments PCP.

All very well "giving it a go".....Surely it's all about getting points.

Has Spencer now reached the point at which his position as manager becomes untenable ?

cheers Dom..

think we could all predict it was going to be another hammering..
Must be doing wonders for the players spirits.
Players are good enough for this level as shown by scoring another 3 goals..
But without being there, it appears a lack of tactic ability from the Management means that once again we lose..this time after being in the lead.

thoroughly disappointing and our 22nd league defeat :-(

however the club seem to be happy for this to progress as "we are building for next season", at this rate next season we will be in the bottom 3.

Form over the last 5 games (and not against the top sides like Hereford,Weymouth etc) says it all : https://www.flashscores.co.uk/standings/jilyFzZC/zkc3QdN8/#f orm;overall;5

No glad to have got it out of the way Matt!!

Makes no difference now anyway. Just feel for the players.

Waiting for the last few games to finish and we can have some breathing space before next season's offerings!!

Will it improve? I have my doubts!!!

Shows what we know nothing is improving and totals keep growing worse by the season.

Day won't be able to nurture the young lads and develop them into complete footballers. he hasn't got the brain or experience in looking after them. these kids are going to be left out to dry, confidence shot and fall out of love with football all because Day thinks he knows best.
he'll wreck their promising career.

Well look at that....... our best season in the past few has come when we've used the least amount of players. What a shock to the system that is

Yes it does Bob sadly.
even for harden fans, there needs to be sight at the end of the tunnel.

Excluding the promotion season. Those other season's stat have nothing glowing about them...The facts are there..

We need to see some progression away from these facts.

Of course I understand everyone's frustrations, but it has to be put into context. As pointed out to me yesterday, take a look at where our playoff challengers from last season are. Egham and Barton, respectively 16th and 21st in the Evostik East. That shows the level of investment needed to make these challenges for promotion, the fact they are clearly having a season of consolidation.
We have clearly detailed the process we are going through. We could not compete with the league's big spenders and once it was clear that playoffs weren't achievable, we made the conscious decision to consolidate too. However, we are not just playing the academy boys who, with all due respect, would be way out of their depth, but putting a team of talented youngsters on the pitch, many of whom are ex-pro youth team lads, with a plan of adding some very experienced players through the spine of the team, ready for another serious challenge next season in a league with a completely different complexity. That plan was somewhat derailed by Bristol Rovers when they went back on an agreement and recalled Josh Bailey a matter of days before the end of season transfer embargo, which together with the FA's additional ban for Lewis Ferrell, has left us incredibly short in central defence.
I thought yesterday's performance was much improved, despite having to play people out of position, and despite loosing Glen Southam and Kieran Rhule on the morning of the game for personal reasons. Yes we made mistakes and loosing Luke King to injury was a massive blow. I felt the pitch clearly played a part in this better performance, unfortunately our pitch is poor in the areas where our lads like to play their football. It was an enjoyable, competitive game against a full time team that hadn't played 48 hours earlier.
Put yourself in the shoes of some other fans, including Basingstoke (let's see where they are next year when they really won't have a budget). Be thankful you have a club that is sensibly moving forward and stop living in the past.

Phil Martin.

"Be thankful you have a club that is sensibly moving forward and stop living in the past."

When we used to have two to five times as many fans watching games because people knew the players and thought we might win?

Understand your points and agree for the most part - thing is Phil, even you must see that keeping Spencer as manager is unsustainable. Off the pitch things have been going in the right direction for a while, on it Spencer's teams still have the same problems they did a decade ago - they don't do the basics defensively, and cave far too often. This happens whoever the personnel are. Players then get shipped out and sometimes scapegoated, but the broader pattern continues.

The answer, I believe, is for Spencer to take a kind of 'Director of Football' role, continuing to use his contacts to bring decent players in, but working closely with a real manager who can get the best out of those same players.

No Farnborough fan should be grateful to Spencer for seeing their team lose 7-1, 6-0, 4-0 etc, week-in, week-out, often to teams with inferior individual players. This is why some people would rather watch Hartley Wintney.

The gates are in serious decline Phil, I fear they'll drop further. It's plain to see that most fans appreciate what the club are doing behind the scenes but it's really time to employ a new manager.

People live in the past when they feel there is no hope for the future. I used to feel that way about there still being a club to support...but Boro are no different to many other non-league clubs yet those clubs can still keep the faithful supporters satisfied. Boro still feels like a non-league North Korea, I'm afraid. There can be no future with the current regime. The result of the recent online Twitter vote is further confirmation that change is needed - it would be better that it's a sensible change now than a storming of the palace later. Vive la revolution!

My assumption is that Spencer Trethewy still has the reins (ownership?) of the club and will continue to enjoy playing the role of mover & shaker in the player movement market.

That is not the same as being a successful football manager...

I don't normally come on here. But in response to Kevin's Facebook status I have replied with this.

Hi Kev, I love what you do for the club. It's amazing how you get the pitch right through thick or thin. But I feel I must pull you up on some points. If Spencer came in and then found the club was £2M in debt? Doesn't that make him a poor businessman? So I'm guessing he knew. Now it was either that he wanted to become a football manager, or he had his property developer head on. Either way, what followed was a nightmare. 16 months without a win away, and I was at most of those matches. So we went into administration and are relegated. Next season we miss the first six games of the season, those Saturday home fixtures in Aug and Sept become winter Tuesday fixtures against European Cup games at a loss of attendance and therefore cash flow. Players come and go, quite a lot of players. When it looks like we might go down two divisions money is spent and we only drop one division. At some point the club is sold (for £1 I have heard) to Rob Prince who I have still yet to meet. No reason or explanation is given for this. He definitely wasn't at the Hereford game away!
That team become the promotion team. Through the playoffs. This is achieved by building the team round a good spine. Is the lesson learnt? Is it fuck Kev. By December our season is over. We are told by the manager the season is over. That we'll be using the remaining games to try players out. But we are told to get behind the club and sponsor a players kit. January sees all favourite players leave the club except CJ and Jack. Look at the picture at the top of your Facebook page Kev. Look at it? Doesn't that make you sad? Players who would play their hearts out for the club!
Crowds are dwindling. 63 players this season and counting (9 of them keepers). Losses of 7-1 to Redditch, 6-0 to Weymouth, 5-1 to Slough. The last 4 in a row conceding 19 goals. 101 goals conceded so far.
Yet every post match interview is the same. There is one constant. But it's never his fault. This makes people angry!
45 years I've supported this club. You know how many games I've been to. But it hurts too much.
I don't like being lied to. I hate the arrogance at the top.
I'll see you at away games. But I'm giving him not one penny more.
Happy Easter, and I hope the weather is kind to you.

I hope we can still be friends. But I've seriously had enough this season.
