(Frank) Spencer's Cunning Plan   Message 45527Fri, 12 January 2018 22:09  Go to next message

With the news this evening that the record appearance holder for the current incarnation has left for a team at Step 4, this speaks volumes of what he is doing.

A quick glance at the league table after Wednesday night's win at home to Banbury, would seem to have triggered to Spencer that Farnborough are safe from relegation.

Gosport currently hold onto the one relegation place at Step 3 for this season with 7 points from 25 games they would need to win 9 games just to get level, highly unlikely.

Dunstable Town, 9 from 27 games, they would require 8 wins and a draw to get level, added in that both have significantly negative goal difference in the -60's.

So there you have it Farnborough are safe from relegation, he will now play academy players for the rest of the season, so no disrespect to them, but a few hammerings could be on there way.

Perry will be next....

That was always going to be the case if we weren't near enough to the promotion and play off places. We aren't and, not only that, we've been on the end of a fair few hammerings - leaking goals right, left and centre.

Clearly Spencer's patience was exhausted by the result at Redditch. The question is - are we now treading water until April, spending as little as possible, or is the side being rebuilt in preparation for a far more positive campaign next season?

I'll make it simple - if these changes stop the hammerings and we start building towards an average of 2 points a game for the rest of this season that would a big step in the right direction.

Let's see, eh?
