Polite request for Spencer   Message 45381Sat, 06 January 2018 16:30  Go to next message

Enough is enough - you have presided over some of the worst results in the history of the club in all its guises. Please will you step aside now and appoint a manager with some fresh ideas and know who can also sort out our shambolic defence.

As much as i agree with this i can't see it happening anytime soon.
Only way i can see this happening is if the fans force him out!! Soon enough things will start going very south for him and the abuse will start turning into something more serious.

I don't mind losing but jesus christ when we have lost this season we have been absolutely smashed!

I want an explanation and idea of direction from the owner and chairman rather than hearing constant crap from Day. I want to hear from the bill payer about this farcical set up.

I do feel for the players who have remained loyal to Boro' without incurring the wrath of He must not be named. That loyalty will be to themselves and the fans that show their support.

I apologise to Nic Ciardini - a fine player to say the least - for picking his name out of a hat, but seeing incompetence week in and week out surely his patience must be very severely tested?

As we now have the third highest goals against total for all Clubs in the League, all you can say is ...thank god for Dunstable and Gosport!!

What a sad reflection on our once lovely Club, actually thanking other Clubs for being worse than us!!

I'm ashamed and embarrassed to write that, and it bloody hurts!!

There is a solution, but I can't see it happening in the short term, as the spiral gets steeper!!!

General McArthy had it about right though, something about heat and kitchens!!!!

How about starting with Lewis Ellington on Wednesday - he clearly has a lot more to offer than substitute appearances...

Last night on social media Keith was offering to pay the entry fee of those who traveled to the game and had to see that. As a person he is mortified by what happened, and so to was Nic from his comments as well.

A great gesture by Keith that shows he is someone who genuinely cares a great deal and is a man of honour.

We need more people like Keith and Nic who can hopefully exert a positive influence on those around them... But they have to be allowed to do so.

It would also help if the team could be having training sessions with each other, something which historically has been lacking... Also a tactical plan B might also be worthwhile for each game.

I'm sure that can be arranged.

Put a Garbo glove puppet on his left hand, and a Prince glove puppet on his right. Spencer can then throw his voice and make the glove puppets say some of the old tried and tested:

"Spencer is the best placed man for the job."

"We know results haven't been great but you don't see what Spencer goes through just getting eleven players out on the pitch for every match".

"We need to stick together for Banbury"

Etc, etc.

Sorted, job done.

As a fan that travelled..nice to see players like Keith offering to pay fans entry ticket, but for me, it should be a gesture from the club as a whole..

Keith's not the captain but he and Nic seem to be only ones willing to step up.

Nothing will change until Spencer Day decides to walk away from the club. So many fans over the last three seasons have voted with their feet and sadly have to say I can't blame them. Whilst Spencer remains why should people think the team and tactics will improve going forward? I'm sure that Spencer reads this forum, so perhaps he would like to give us his thoughts on the latest thrashing............am not holding my breath.

Something has to change.

Seeing as the players appear to change every other game I'd suggest it is not their fault.I'd expect one or two to fall out with the manager over a season but not the rate we get. That suggests the fault is not the players.

Last season was pretty crap even though we won promotion. Most of us could probably have gone up with the players available and average crowds of 2/3x everyone else in the division (despite somehow having the 'lowest budget').

I miss watching Boro on a regular basis but apart from meeting mates for a few beers occassionally I don't see the point. There is no tactical cohesion and when we win it seems to be despite the manager not because of him. I've lost count of the times we are leading at halt time to get slaughtered in the 2nd half after the 'tactical masterclass'team talk at half time.

Most managers would have been sacked years ago and the question must be what is the plan because if the club is stil for sale the value must decrease every week and there are no assets to strip.

The low crowds get blamed but the reason for the low crowds is the dross on offer. Crowds would double with a new manager.

Yours

Angry in London!!

Not saying I'd travel 4000 miles to watch Boro each week, even if they were top of the league, but it breaks my heart to hear the comments about how inept the team (usually) is.

I know it's only a dream, to expect one day to return to the heady heights of the Conference league - or whatever it's called now - with the fantastic buzz around the ground during home games - but surely we should be better than 7-1 drubbings, leaking goals on a regular basis, and having a revolving door policy for our players!

I don't know what the answer is, but even from where I am, it's plain to see that the current situation is dire.

I hope someone has an answer, sooner, rather than later.

Problem is, Day can continue to claim 'success' on two key metrics.

1. Not getting relegated this season (not an achievement btw).
2. Not loading the club with debt.

These are vital, as we know. But most fans would consider having a team capable of competing equally as important. That and home crowds which aren't diminishing in a downward spiral toward double figure attendances.

Until a new potential owner comes along Spencer is who we have. I wonder if there is a point where his position becomes untenable? Doesn't appear to be.

But it isn't great is it, when our best players, all of whom are certainly good enough to flourish in this league, are embarrassed by the tactical shambles on the pitch?

Sorry Jules but our last 6 form is:

P,6_W,2_D,0_L,4_F,11_A,24_+/-,-13_Pts,6.

Last 4 form:
P,4_W,1_D,0_L,3_F,5_A,18_+/-,-13_Pts,3.

I took these stats from Evo-Stik form guide
and any other manager in the league would be out of a job.

Right well this is an unpolite request to the owners and top brass

It's time to call a fans forum where they can explain where they want to take the club.

An official response is required from the top explaining where they see where Day is still fit to run and pick and team.

Communication is required to reassure those fans who are now wondering whether to come back and get those who have been lost to return.

It's time we as fans finally got some answers to the hidden world. Yes; great we are on an even keel and operating within our means. However if the product on offer is substandard then the club will struggle to keep old fans and attract new ones; and in turn become a loss making machine.

I am offering a vote of no confidence in Day; it's up to him now to show us what he can do. Wins against Kings Lynn, Hereford are great and unexpected but it's the games against Gosport and Dunstable that are quite frankly embarassing. To lose against them is a joke and must be held accountable.
Excellent that we are fielding 11 within budget, however the direction, tactics and thought processes are substandard and not good enough. Lads down in Merthyr are still competative yet we are imploding.

We've missed a trick not retaining Jamie Cureton for his services for next season as a coach; having him in charge would make some noise for those that still think highly of him. He is a legend of the game and yet we haven't capitalised on that.

Let Jon take charge for the rest of the season. He has contacts within the non league game to take us forward. We're on a season to nothing now with nothing to play for so why not allow a fresh face to pick and run a team if we're playing for nothing.

So, to the directors and owners of Farnborough Football Club. It's time to stand up and get your voices heard. Answers are wanted and this is now your opportunity.

Presumably a new coach would expect some form of remuneration. Where's that coming from if the budget is already thinner than an After Eight mint that was sat on by Wayne Shaw? Is Spencer still unpaid?

I understand Jamie has a role coaching forwards at Arsenal in their youth set-up, so unfortunately I don't think it would be a goer of an idea... Not much of a decision to make for him really if it were hypothetically offered ;)

is JR not getting paid either then? I'm sure there's managers out there willing to prove themselves and cut their teeth for a few quid.
if Day isn't getting paid and treating it like a part time hobby then questions need to be asked of his commitment and desire.

Cureton. give him the opportunity to cut his teeth in management with us or within the set up. the buzz he'd bring and the players that would want to play for him would be vast. we could give him his first chance in a dugout for a mens team, or have him as a coach. you only need to listen to Perry about how much he learnt from him and enjoyed playing alongside him

Do the management really think that winning 1-0 at home to Banbury justifies our result last weekend?

Jon Reed on twitter, "#ignorethebooboys"

Yeah just ignore the fact that we have been absolutely crap all season and got more than a few drubbings! Lets ignore everything that's happened this season just because we beat Banbury HAHA

So when Jon says "boo boys" i take it he is speaking about those who want a change in management, the "boo boys" that have been following this club for the past 20/30 years that no longer come to games because of Spencer!

About right for a statement like that to be made by an official of the club! For years now the club has ignored the fans and nothing will change because Spencer's ego is too bloody big!!

Very well put.

Attendances are slumping and possibly sponsors are reconsidering their postions.

Surely Spencer must get the message before much longer.........

STEP ASIDE NOW....DO NOT DELAY

The fans are sick to the back teeth of your "revolving door" policy and lack of consistency with goalkeepers.

my first 3 names on the teamsheet.
Going on that form I expect either CJ, Perry or Cards next.

If you want fans to return then you've got to give some incentive to return to. Everything at the club is moving in the opposite direction though. Day wrote off this season a while back and all signs are that next season will see another roster of temp signings. What message does that send the fans? Players leaving and poor performances(albiet with some decent results) aren't going to get fans buzzing. They need something to look forward to. A vision for the future and a plan of action that supporter can see is being followed.

I can't see him turning this around, the current squad would struggle to compete in the league below. He has shown to be capable of bringing in some good individuals for this level but falls short when it comes to turning them into a team. He can hide behind the Hereford win but don't forget that came 3 days after their tough win at Eastleigh in the FA Cup. It certainly doesn't even out losing at home to Gosport, and don't forget the other of the league's whipping boys Dunstable beat us too.

He won't get sacked though, his job isn't even under any threat. He'll leave when he chooses to and that's not going to be any time soon.

It's good fortune that Merthyr on Saturday and Hereford in a couple of weeks will both bring decent followings, if not results, and that will mask the lows of our own support.

Anything untoward, result wise, on Saturday will be followed by the visit of bottom strugglers Dunstable in midweek. That could be the nadir, and true catalyst of our support.

That's followed by Weymouth away! and then Hereford at home.
Easy eh?

I wonder how long it will be after that before the attendances are in double figures!!!

points prediction for those games? 3.

Just watch that blow up in my face!!!

Its a great shame when you read Trents comment "He won't get sacked though, his job isn't even under any threat. He'll leave when he chooses to and that's not going to be any time soon."

All the fans know that it is true though. The reality is that the only way that Spencer is going to leave is by fan power. Fans are already staying away in their hundreds, it just wants more to follow suit and he will have no option but to leave. It is the only way that we can get OUR club back.

The club could and can survive without Spencer.

An absent supporter.

If he wants to keep ownership of the club pending a sale, fair enough, but got to go as manager.
