Gosport Borough FC   Message 45188Tue, 19 December 2017 19:58  Go to next message

I saw on BBC South news tonight that the former Chairman of Portsmouth, Iain McInnes has taken over at Gosport Borough. He is a great advocate of fan owned clubs, so it will be interesting to see developments there in the coming months.

If Dunstable find a benefactor it would make things really interesting.

But I do wonder what McInnes is letting himself in for. Previous owners of football clubs have a nasty habit of hiding the true extent of their debts whenever a fresh-faced type turns up.

Interview with Iain McInnes with radio solent. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05rkry1http://http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05rkry1
Apparently, Farnborough had debts of £10M. Where do these guys get these figures from?

Think we all know that figure is a bit of an exaggeration.

Interesting that in one of the other interviews by Ray Stainton, he states, "league players no longer drop down to non league football".
I know Jamie's age makes him a special case, but would just like to say what a pleasure it is watching him play week in, week out!

Seemed like a pretty genuine guy when they came to us Bob.

The majority of it did sound good, but there are plenty of 'good talkers' in the game!!

My concern was the remark about Farnborough and a huge debt!!, totally incorrect we all know, and unnecessary in my view.

We can dismiss it, but there are many out there who will just read, oh Farnborough again, nothing changes!!

Mud still sticks, regardless of the good work that IS being done behind the scenes!
