To be fair ro the keeper, it was a good save from the penalty rather than a miss

Nice to see a youngster get his first goal for the 1st team, but a very disappointing result.

quite frankly embarrassing how we couldn't play football. couldn't manage to string a few passes together and work an opening.

Gosport were fully deserving of the 3 points and did a good job to get them. they weren't great but did the right things.

no idea what the game plan was or attempt to play football. shocking and shameful from all.

Well that has to go down as the most embarrassing game for many a year!!
No shape from front to back. No desire to match Gosport and totally disjointed.

Desire has to come from the players, although it did show a little from the young lads when they came on, and pleased for Roberts getting his goal late on.
Other than that it was pretty poor to say the least.

Tactics and shape has to come from the Management/Coaches and they have to take full responsibility for that, but it will be everyone else's fault AGAIN!!!

Depressing but, as I said before, if the Owners/Management are happy with that, they must take the consequences, and that includes an attendance of 177 which will only get worse if performances like this continue, then it's on their heads!!

On to Saturday, it's only the League leaders Kings Lynn. Might have to nip down to Cove CC to borrow their scoreboard.

COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

Dreadful. Just a woefully inadequate product on the pitch....

We've heard all the excuses already this season.

Time someone who knows how to manage (and train) a football team was invited to step in before the terraces are devoid of supporters...

That was complete rubbish. I have honestly seen more skill and entertainment watching local park football. Gosport deserved to win only their second game this season.
I took my son along, who hasn't been to the ground for a few seasons due work and travelling and he also thought it was rubbish.
Between us we spent over £24 pound for that garbage.
No doubt Spencer will claim we were depleted due injuries and suspensions, but guess what so do other teams from time to time, but still remain competitive. No doubt the small playing budget will be mentioned again, yet both Dunstable and Gosport teams (who I understand) with players on travel expenses only can put out organised teams with a committed game plan capable of beating Boro.
I appreciate, as has been mentioned in a previous thread that Boro have additional costs due to the stadium, but it is no good having such fine facilities if the club are unable to attract back old and new supporters with hope of an entertaining team with a competitive chance of success on the field. This management team appear not to be capable of doing this. It's not rocket science.

We are now in a position where we should certainly be looking over our shoulders - 22 points isn't enough to rest on our laurels and with the likes of Gosport (no playing budget) and Hartley Wintney (lower league) outclassing and outplaying us at home, week-in, week-out, we need to focus on the upcoming relegation scrap.

In the past the manager has ditched players he thinks have underperformed - that now appears to be our entire squad. It simply won't wash anymore.

I have one word for last night - pitiful.
For the players we have we are seriously under achieving and that can only be down to the manager because of his failure to motivate players or to get them to play for him.
Time to go upstairs Spencer and allow a good young manager like the chap at Hartley Wintney to take over.

Barry, this is the perennial, and constant, problem that has dogged us for years now, but I can't see it changing, much as we would like it to, can you?

The idea of a 'Director of Football', or whatever you want to call it, is a very difficult position for the incoming Manager/Coach who has to be very sure that there will be no interference from above, and that he is left to 'Manage' the team.

Do you think that could work here?, I remain to be convinced.

When I was watching Boro at Stratford it was quite noticeable that there was only one bench barking orders, encouraging their players..
I'll let you guess which bench it was..

We appear to have a squad that is underachieving but without encouragement (and that includes senior players encouraging the younger players), we will keep sinking this season...

I don't think it would take much to turn around form but feels like a season that is in limbo due to only 1 going down..

Just watched the after match interview, cringe worthy, still somehow tries to almost pin blame on youth when goals conceeded well before they came on. Pleased for the youth, i doubt it, cheap bench warmers as always. Had good academy players before in past seasons, none of them around now , building hopes just to be let down

It was pretty obvious from the start of this season that some Clubs, and Chairmen, were going to roll along quite happily through the season, without any serious expenditure or fear of relegation, and with no intention of challenging for promotion, with the costs involved of stepping up to National South, thereby leaving relegation to be decided between the two that appeared to be in obvious difficulties and almost determined the one relegation spot.

Not nice, or pretty, but it is an inevitable consequence of the F.A decision, which should be to the better in the long run.

It should also give the remaining Clubs a full season to re-evaluate their squad and find, and build, a good squad for the following season when the reorganisation takes place.

Whether we are, can, or have the willingness and ability to do it, I leave to your thoughts.

Bob, I personally have no axe to grind as a person with Spencer, but the reality is that his record as a manager proves he is not capable to build a successful team. Without fail every season he constantly changes the keeper and other players through a season. Rarely do Boro have a regular team. The team at the back end of last season was as regular as it gets and it showed in the successful end campaign. No way is Spencer going to fire himself (unless there is an unlikely change of ownership) so we are left where we are. A team and club going no where. More and more of the regular supporters have voted with their feet and who can blame them when you see how poor the team is and see no long term strategy going forward. It's a shame how apathetic most long term supporters are about the future. The club has had a fine past and many happy memories of successful players and teams. It's clear from Spencer's last post match interview he feels with the present team they will not be relegated and therefore is not intending to bring in fresh faces. Fair enough, but do not expect additional supporters to turn up when there is nothing left to play for this season. By the way does anyone know what is Spencer's record since taking over as manager? I bet it is below 30%.

League and play-off games only:

Played: 260
Won: 106
Drawn: 35
Lost: 119
Goals for: 418
Goals against: 470
Points per game: 1.36

A 41% win rate.

The above values are skewed by our season in the South & West division. Spencer's record at Premier level or higher is:-

Played: 216
Won: 76
Drawn: 29
Lost: 111
Goals for: 316
Goals against: 419
Points per game: 1.19

A 35% win rate.
