More sad news for the Club, following on from the passing of Chris Cooke, Graham Ellicott and Alan Churchill in recent times.

Charles was still Club President, and a wonderful servant to Farnborough Town, Woking F.C. and Schools Football for over sixty years.

A remarkable man who will sorely be missed by all.

R.I.P. Charles, and thanks for all you did for so many football people in this area.

I was really sorry to hear yesterday of the passing of a true legend in football within the local community, Charles Mortimore MBE, still affectionately known as 'Sir' or 'Charlie' to many of us.

Charles was a teacher and football coach along with his brother John at Cove School when I started there in the late 1950's. He used to take us for training after school hours as well as during school time. His involvement in football covered many arenas; Cove School, Cove FC, Woking FC, and Aldershot Boys Schools teams.

I met back up with Charles at Farnborough Town FC in the early 1990's and he was still the same man I remembered from my school days. Nothing was too much for him and he had devoted his life to helping young footballers in the area to reach their full sporting potential.

He was still involved with all of the teams mentioned above and also involved with local cricket teams as well. A great sportsman who deserved recognition for the superb work and time that he gave to boys in the local region.

A few of us that knew Charles well, wrote letters requesting that he be awarded the MBE for outstanding services to sport within our local area and we were really pleased when our request was approved and Charles received his notification that he was to be honoured in this way.

Charles continued to be a director of Farnborough Town FC and his knowledge in football and contacts was very beneficial to the club. We had many games against Portsmouth and Southampton football clubs, arranged by Charles through his brother John.

It is good to know that he was still President of Farnborough FC, and that because of his illness it was never taken away from him. It really meant a lot to him, he loved and lived football, he was Mr Football, an absolute local legend.

Charles, you will be sadly missed. Thank you for everything you did for the local boys of Aldershot and Farnborough in football, cricket and also athletics. You will always be remembered with great affection by the many of us who were fortunate enough to have known you, literally thousands of us. Rest in Peace my friend.

Another tragic blow and I am so very sorry to hear of Charles passing.

I can't add any more than brian has said above, but legends like Charles will live on through memory forever.
