Whilst I congratulate Woking on their return to the National League, there are a few mentions on the Cardsboard Forum, re seating at Kingfield, which arose during the play off arrangements discussion, that are very interesting.
There are many comments as to why there are no hand rails, in the big stand, particularly as it is deemed to be very steep, and there are mentions of the seating in the 'family' stand, which I assume is the wooden one, having no back rests!!
Now those of us old enough to remember, will recall the stringent regulations that made us remove the old tractor type seats in the main stand to install seats with back rests!!
There were also many safety regulations that made the PRE stand unable to be opened until the correct handrails were fitted etc!!
Add to this Barrier strengthening at the REAR of the MRE, and many other similar requests on safety grounds, it seems that Safety regulations seem to differ from Club to Club, and from League to League.
I would have thought that going in to the National League would see some of the most stringent requirements of all, but apparently not!!
I suppose the argument is that the ground is being re-developed so why bother, but in Woking's case these problems have been there for many seasons!!
No malice intended, and good luck to Woking, but it does make you wonder sometimes that the bigger Clubs seem to get more favourable treatment!!
Something to discuss while we wait for July!!
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

I have friends that are Woking fans and I went to a few games and did sit in both stands and can confirm the family stand seating is small and has no backs so you do get the occasional knee to the back. The main stand is steep and there is no rails so if you were to slip it could potentially be dangerous but saying that at Fulham and other premier League grounds I have attended the main steps also don't have rails so obviously not a massive requirement.

Must be just us then!!, because it really WAS a massive requirement before the PRE stand could be opened, AND the removal, and change, of tractor type seats to back rest type in the Main stand!!
Standard rules, what standard rules??
You can find many more different anomalies at most grounds you visit, so there just isn't any point in having the regulations if they aren't going to be enforced!!
Clubs are supposed to have 1 year to upgrade when getting promotion, or face relegation, but haven't heard of anyone being sanctioned yet.
There was one Club we went to where you even had use the public toilets in the park, outside the ground, if you needed them.
Gateway manned by a steward to enable people to go back and forth!
None inside the ground except in the Clubhouse, which was small!!
Fines come pretty quick if you haven't got the right coloured shorts or something, but health and safety? Nah.
I'm glad that we have a very good ground, that satisfies most of the grading regulations for this level, and I'm proud of those that have contributed to financing it and building it, but it really galls when you see what goes unchecked at other Clubs!!
Will it change? Probably not, until the F.A and Leagues grow a pair!!
Blimey look at that pink pig flying by!!
